First DataBank Europe provides a range of toolkits which help simplify the implementation process, enabling functionality such as patient specific decision support, more accurate endorsing of prescriptions and the prediction of pharmacy reimbursement. By making the programming as easy and flexible as possible, these toolkits shield developers from the underlying complexities of Multilex Drug Data File (Multilex DDF). Developers can therefore concentrate on other application areas and implement complex functionality with efficiency, saving time and money in development. Essential checks such as drug-drug interactions, dose, allergies, drug doubling by ingredient and duplicate therapy by action group are made simple, and developers are provided with complex patient-specific clinical checking using filters according to patients’ age, sex and medical condition.
Operating Systems and Platforms
Multilex Toolkits are adaptable to the wide range of environments found in healthcare, such as Microsoft 32 Bit Windows operating system, MS-DOS, LINUX and UNIX. First DataBank Europe has experience with both new and legacy systems, and is dedicated to providing the most appropriate technology for your development plans.
Database Support
Our toolkits can be attached to relational data sources either through ADO, if you are using Microsoft technology, or through JDBC, if you are a Java user. As a result we can support many different relational databases. Currently the toolkits have been validated against MS Access, MS SQL Server and Oracle. We would be pleased to discuss your preferred database technology and to ensure that the toolkits and database are compatible with your system architecture.
The Tool Set
Contemporary tool sets, such as our Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) are key to developers responding rapidly to marketplace demands for new and more sophisticated products. We have a number of toolkits to meet these needs.
Multilex Toolkits
The Multilex DrugServer Toolkits provide fast and easy access to Multilex DDF and clinical decision support. They are available for both COM and Java implementations, depending on the technologies and architecture of your application.
Multilex COM Toolkit
This toolkit is a COM programming interface that allows access to Multilex DDF. COM provides a language independent interface that can be used to build component software. COM components can be used from a variety of development languages, including Visual Basic, Delphi, Visual FoxPro, .Net and Visual C++. The Multilex COM DrugServer Toolkit can be used by any language that supports Microsoft COM. This toolkit is available for Windows 32 platforms, NT and XP.
Multilex Java Toolkit
This toolkit facilitates fast, easy access to Multilex DDF with the benefits of platform independence. Java uses JDBC to connect to the relational database of your choice.
Endorsement and Reimbursement Toolkit
First DataBank Europe’s advanced Endorsement and Reimbursement Toolkit helps system suppliers meet the many needs of dispensing pharmacists in the UK. This sophisticated and flexible toolkit will automatically endorse prescriptions and provides accurate reimbursement information crucial to the pharmacy business.
The toolkit shields users from the complicated remuneration and endorsing process, resulting in less time spent manually endorsing prescriptions and an increase in overall accuracy and efficiency. For more information, visit the Multilex Endorsement & Reimbursement page.
Internet/Intranet Development
Our toolkits can help you take advantage of Internet and Intranet technologies. They can be used from Active Server Pages (ASP) with Internet scripting languages such as VBScript, JSP or JavaScript.
First DataBank provides regular, free Toolkit updates for customers to support their product development. These are released to customers with advanced notice of the new content.
