New Products & Developments
At First DataBank Europe (FDBE), we continue to develop and expand our product line to meet our customers’ needs and national requirements. Some exciting and recent developments include the following:
2007 Major Multilex DDF Product Release -- LIVE
(Toolkits version 5.0 / ASCII Data Files version 7.0)
The latest version of the Multilex Drug Data File (Multilex DDF) contains a number of important product developments including live data for our dose range check module and functionality which supports our customers in meeting emerging national healthcare standards. For more information on these developments, please click here.
ASCII Data Files Minor Product Release (version 6.1) -- LIVE
The following new functionality is included in this version of our ASCII Data Files:
  • Professional fees – to provide an indication of the number of professional fees per prescription item. Dispensing doctors and pharmacies can now use this information, along with their own knowledge of the application of fees, to complete the ‘Number of Fees’ box at the bottom of the prescription form for a single product or pack prescribed.
  • Electronic prescription messaging flag - NHS Connecting for Health (NHS CfH) in England and NHS Scotland’s e-pharmacy programme have each defined a list of products which are not allowed to be sent via an electronic prescription message. A flag is provided against these products to indicate to customers where an electronic prescription message should not be sent due to the product being out of scope of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) or e-pharmacy.
Endorsement and Reimbursement Toolkit Minor Release (version 6.1) -- LIVE
The release provides England and Wales with changes to the full endorsement string and the calendar pack endorsing element. These developments will ease identification of prescriptions which need to be separated from other prescriptions, including broken bulk prescriptions. This meets the standards of the Prescription Pricing Department and therefore helps when sending reimbursements.
SNOMED CT based sensitivity checking data -- LIVE
Drug allergies recorded using dm+d products and SNOMED CT substance codes can now be used to drive a sensitivity check within Multilex DDF.
To enable our customers to integrate this functionality more effectively and become SNOMED CT compliant, FDBE has also released a subset of SNOMED CT codes suitable for presenting in a picking list to support the recording of patient medication sensitivities and allergies.
2006 Major Multilex DDF Product Release -- LIVE
(Toolkits version 4.0 / ASCII Data Files version 6.0)
This version of Multilex DDF contains a number of significant new features, including the integration of NHS CfH’s chosen terminologies, namely the NHS Dictionary of Medicines and Devices (NHS dm+d) and the Systemised Nomenclature of Medicine Clinical Terms (SNOMED CT).
This release is designed to support FDBE’s customers in meeting NHS CfH requirements, including the National Care Records Service and the Electronic Prescription Service. For more information on this release, please click here.
Endorsement and Reimbursement Toolkit major release (version 4) -- LIVE

Multilex Endorsement and Reimbursement Toolkit -- LIVE

This results in significant business benefits due to the reduction of manual endorsing and the provision of a wide range of forecasting and management information. Click here for more information.
