Technical Developments

The Multilex Drug Data File (Multilex DDF) is now available through a new API built on the Microsoft® .NET framework. This API has been developed to support clinical system suppliers in utilising latest technologies and in meeting emerging requirements and standards for clinical decision support within healthcare systems.

To aid compliance with national standards, functional enhancements include simplified management of multiple drug and clinical terminologies. Regionalised information can be accessed through a single consistent method without the need to reprogram for each region, enabling simpler management of regional healthcare requirements.

The architecture of the API also provides the capability to deliver international content, as well as interoperability with international healthcare terminology standards.

Designed from the ground up for optimal performance, the architecture offers both high availability and scalability. It provides multiple configuration options thus future-proofing clinical systems against the increasing functionality, performance and deployment requirements of the future. The API also supports different deployment models, including enterprise solutions such as web services.

The new API presents complex decision support functionality in the simplest possible format, providing the potential to reduce our customers' development effort significantly and enable rapid roll-out of new clinical decision support functionality.

Our Multilex DDF API built on the Microsoft .NET framework provides a better platform not only for speedier integration of the current Multilex DDF but also of the next generation of clinical decision support as outlined in FDBE's product development strategy.
