The Multilex Drug Data File (Multilex DDF) offers a breadth of clinical information and support to the community pharmacist including:

• Up-to-date pick lists and Drug Tariff pricing information.
• Referential drug information which is generic in nature, presented in a concise format and accessible whenever detailed information on a certain drug is required, for example in an MUR. Community pharmacists find the counselling information particularly useful.
• Active clinical decision support providing a number of checks including drug interactions, allergies and duplicate therapy, to support pharmacists during the dispensing process. As Patient Medical Records become more complete and with the potential to access patient information via the Spine/NHS Care Records Service, there will be an increasing need for effective clinical decision support.

Using Multilex DDF in a pharmacy IT system helps to reduce dispensing errors and frees up the pharmacist to spend more time with patients, thereby improving patient safety. Multilex DDF also supports interoperability between systems as it enables the electronic transfer of prescriptions between the pharmacy and the GP surgery via standard messaging.

The Endorsing & Reimbursement Toolkit shields pharmacists from the complicated endorsing and reimbursement process, resulting in less time spent manually endorsing prescriptions and an increase in overall accuracy, efficiency and consistency. It uses the complex and frequently changing regional Drug Tariff endorsing rules to provide automatic prescription endorsement and reimbursement information crucial to the pharmacy business.

• Facilitates financial planning using end of month estimates
• Helps pharmacist to produce accurate end of month claims resulting in maximum reimbursement
