Clinicians in unscheduled care settings are also supported by First DataBank Europe as our products are used within 95% of out-of-hours (OOH) systems.
Access to the Multilex Drug Data File (Multilex DDF) within OOH systems enables clinicians to benefit from clinical decision support on the move, helping to reduce prescribing errors. Although there is limited access to patient information and less coding of conditions in this sector, OOH clinicians appreciate the clinical decision support provided on drug interactions, allergies and duplicate therapy. With the potential for full access to patient information via a patient’s care record in the future, the level of clinical decision support available in an unscheduled care setting will increase.
Using Multilex DDF in unscheduled care also ensures consistency in decision making, as OOH clinicians are using the same clinical information as their colleagues in other healthcare settings.
With the advent of different electronic healthcare records in different regions and with EPS Phase 2 seeing the start of a fully electronic, digitally signed prescription to a nominated pharmacy, interoperability is vital for OOH systems. Multilex DDF facilitates the transfer of information between unscheduled and scheduled care e.g. GPs, hospitals, and pharmacists.
