9 September 2010

Brian James, chief executive Rotherham NHS Foundation TrustThe Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is adopting First DataBank’s Multilex Drug Data File (Multilex DDF), the UK’s leading drug knowledge base, as a key component of the Trust’s MEDITECH Electronic Patient Record system.

The purchase of the latest MEDITECH v6.0 Electronic Patient Record solution from FileTek UK Ltd is part of a new strategic informatics direction for the Trust planned over the next ten years.

Rotherham chief executive Brian James (pictured right) stated “This fully integrated electronic patient record will cover the entire patient journey within and beyond the hospital.  Including First DataBank’s Multilex DDF was the obvious choice, prescribing, dispensing and administration decisions, helping our health professionals to provide the best patient care.”

Multilex DDF is the UK’s most comprehensive and widely used drug knowledge base. Multilex DDF holds clinical and commercial information on more than 75,000 pharmaceutical products and packs and provides patient specific clinical decision support.  The integration of Multilex DDF in the Meditech Electronic Patient Record system provides the capability for Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust to develop a seamless clinical workflow, linking prescribing with other clinical functionality like orders and alerts to deliver easily managed, integrated care pathways.

Charles Blackburn, chief executive of FileTek UK, said “The implementation of MEDITECH v6.0 is the cornerstone in enabling the Trust to realise its clearly defined, ambitious IM & T strategy and vision of a ‘paperless patient journey’. We are delighted to be partnering with First DataBank and incorporating its comprehensive UK drug knowledge base Multilex DDF within the MEDITECH v6.0 installation at Rotherham”.
